Winn Austin: Fabulously, Delightfully, Legendary

Winn Austin looks back on a life shaped by fashion and performance, from childhood in Guyana to the clubs and pageants of 1980’s and 90’s London

“I think people applaud when they see me, ‘cause come on — look at me!”

Guyana-born Winn Austin came to London as a teenager in 1980. Growing up surrounded by fashionable women, her interest in clothes began early, eventually leading her to pageants and London’s club scene, from Taboo and Heaven to  hosting at hedonistic Kinky Gerlinky.

Now as co-founder of inclusive lingerie brand Miss A, Winn reflects on a life shaped by fashion, performance and queer nightlife.
